Edo Assembly asks agencies to absorb sacked workers by Abia govt

By GABRIEL ENOGHOLSE

BENIN – EDO State House of Assembly has passed a resolution mandating the State Civil Service Commission, SCSC, State Assembly Service Commission, SAC, and the State Universal Basic Education, SUBE, to absorb the 12 Edo people in the state whose appointments were terminated by the Abia State Government last October.

The directive was sequel to the consideration of the report of the House Standing Committee on Public Petitions, titled “Absorption of Edo State Indigenes into the State Civil and Public Service following their sack from Abia Civil and Public Service by the Abia State Government”.

According to the report of the committee, the sacked workers in the Abia State Civil Service were merely NYSC awardees on the state employment.

It noted that the absorption of the people sacked by the Abia State Government could not be effected immediately because a resolution to that effect by the State House of Assembly had not be passed by the House.
